The DoPhin SH280 Slim Hanging Filter is a compact and space-saving Hang-On-Back (HOB) aquarium filter designed for aquariums up to approximately 75 litres. Its slim profile, adjustable flow, quiet operation, and versatile filtration make it an excellent choice for small community aquariums, planted tanks, shrimp tanks, and other low-to-moderate bioload setups.

Recommended Filter Media Setup
For improved filtration performance, arrange the media in the following order:

Coarse Sponge – Captures larger particles and debris.

Fine Sponge / Filter Cartridge – Provides additional mechanical filtration and basic biological filtration.

Ceramic Rings / Bio-Balls – Provides additional surface area for beneficial bacteria.

Fine Filter Wool – Optional polishing stage for clearer water.
For shrimp aquariums: Add a sponge pre-filter to the intake pipe to help protect shrimp and prevent debris from entering the filter.
Installation

Hang the filter securely on the back or side of the aquarium.

Place the inlet pipe into the aquarium water.

Add a small amount of aquarium water to the filter chamber to assist with priming.

Plug in the filter and switch it on.

Adjust the flow rate according to the aquarium and livestock requirements.
Maintenance
Rinse the sponge every 2–3 weeks or when it becomes heavily clogged.
Clean the inlet pipe if water flow decreases.
Replace the filter cartridge when it becomes worn or loses effectiveness.
Never rinse biological filter media with tap water. Use removed aquarium water to help preserve beneficial bacteria.
Perform maintenance according to the aquarium's stocking level and water conditions.
