Breeding aquatic plants and shrimp is an extremely interesting and developing hobby. It provides many reasons to be delighted, but also many to solve the problems encountered. In order to avoid some of them, we can prepare ourselves for breeding them in the aquarium in advance .
The substrate is one of the key factors that determines the success of our breeding of shrimp and plants. Choosing sand or fine gravel is not always the best decision for our tank and the organisms growing in it.

Active aquarium substrates are a comprehensive solution for plant aquariums and breeding freshwater aquarium shrimp. They allow you to avoid many problems that tanks run on tap water have to deal with, without using a special substrate in them.
The basic advantages of such a product include: high porosity and low weight, the ability to lower the pH (even to pH 5.5) and carbonate hardness (KH) of water, reduces the level of NH3 and NH4, a structure that allows for the quick and effective settlement of filter bacteria, absorption of water discoloration and turbidity, granulation that allows for easy planting of plants, as well as breeding of freshwater dwarf shrimp.
An additional advantage of ISTA Shrimp Soil is its simplicity of use. We do not rinse the substrate before use. Once poured, formed and flooded, the substrate is maintenance-free. We do not desludging this type of substrate, we try not to disturb it unnecessarily, we leave it as it is for most of its use.
