Overview
Cichlid Lake Salt is a mineral salt blend designed to help recreate the mineral composition of African Rift Lake cichlid habitats. It supplies calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium, along with trace components, and is intended to adjust general hardness rather than alkalinity or pH.

Listed Dosing Directions
The following doses are for 40 L of water, approximately 10 US gallons as stated in the original directions, and are based on deionized (DI) or reverse-osmosis (RO) water. Follow the current product label if its directions differ.
- Lake Tanganyika: 11 g (1½ teaspoons); listed GH increase of approximately 8.8 dGH.
- Lake Malawi: 5.5 g (¾ teaspoon); listed GH increase of approximately 4.4 dGH.
- Lake Victoria: 3.6 g (½ teaspoon); listed GH increase of approximately 3 dGH.
Testing and Adjustment
- Measure the source water's GH before dosing, especially when using water other than DI or RO.
- Adjust the amount according to existing mineral content and the requirements of your fish.
- The listed GH guidance is 8–14 dGH for Tanganyika, 4–8 dGH for Malawi and 3–6 dGH for Victoria setups.
- Follow the manufacturer's mixing and water-change instructions, avoiding sudden changes in water chemistry.
- Monitor GH, alkalinity and pH separately rather than assuming this product sets all three.
Care and Precautions
Use only as directed for the intended aquarium setup. Keep the container tightly closed and dry, out of reach of children and pets. Continue routine water testing and water changes.
