Description
Asian arowanas grow up to 90 cm (35 in) total length. Like all Scleropages, Asian arowanas have long bodies; large, elongated pectoral fins, dorsal and anal fins located far back on the body; and a much larger caudal fin than that of their South American relative, the silver arowana, Osteoglossum bicirrhosum.
Arowanas need an aquarium that's at least 150 gallons to accommodate their long bodies and fins. Since arowanas tend to swim near the top of their tank's water, the aquarium's length and width measurements are more important than its height
Too high a water temp would lower the fish's lifespan, while too low a water temp may be fatal for Arowanas. As a result, you should keep the water temperature within the ideal range of 75-86℉. Adding an aquarium heater is advisable, which can heat the water automatically.
The original habitat of Arowana is in the rain forests, where the pH level is around 5.5 to 7 and the water is slightly acidic. Slightly acidic water is one of the critical factors of Arowana's bright colors, especially Red Arowana.
